I don’t agree that your effort here is “transparent.” You’ve presented an exposé an ting as “data”, but absent complete information & context. For example, the salaries of many of these individuals is based primarily on them being tenured faculty; anyone can find their complete titles and job descriptions on the UVA website. Their salaries are, presumably, influenced by market rates, just like yours is. Some of the folks cited here spend the majority of their time teaching (or learning); DEI is an additional task they have accepted to serve for a period of time. (I do not work for UVA but this seems to be the case.) As a C’ville resident, I think UVA is doing an exceptional job of using Jeffersonian, Enlightenment ideals to ensure that young Virginians of all races, creeds, genders, and backgrounds can apply to participate in broadening their education and serving our communities. DEI serves to welcome & to support non-traditional students—whether a white, first-generation college student, a non-native English speaker, BIPOC student, LGBTQ student or whatever. White males have historically and universally been welcomed & supported; DEI efforts simply ensure that other students receive the same.
The colleges and universities have essentially maimed or killed off their own supply of students, as well as the parents (ie the bill payers) of those students, with the jabs. It's only logical to predict that the enrollments are dwindling at an astronomical rate, and therefore many universities will simply not exist in 5-10 years.
I believe they do mention that. They should be spending their time teaching and not getting paid to worry about little groups whining that they aren’t getting their heads patted and their feelings hurt. DEI Don’t Educate Indoctrinate.
Why do you care? UVA, which was founded by a plantation owner, was built by slaves, and did not admit women or minorities until the 70s, has had to make up a lot of territory to create an equitable experience for its students. I applaud them for taking it seriously.
By implementing overtly racist policies? DEI is the epitome of systemic racism. Institutionalized discrimination and harmful policy. That's the fundamental problem with wokies, is that you are replacing one racism with another, and think that's progress. You fight for 'justice' rather than improvement, but this isn't a court of law. A modern day religion, with nothing by circular logic and an invented vocabulary to serve propaganda aims.
Ide -- the middle of the month in ancient Rome; Eid -- a muslim holy period; IED -- a really awful bomb; DEI -- the dog whistle of all dog whistles. UVA has a right to figure out how to take Charlottesville off the map of folks who show up with torches and terror. Overkill? When is that NOT the case? But let's leave UVA alone to figure out its way of being in a rapidly changing world. Many, many undergraduates, their families, and alums like me have the patience to let our alma mater figure this all out.
While spending $20Million to in fact do more harm? Maybe they should figure it out small scale, rather than experiment on UVA students. They are building the plane while they are flying it. That's not leadership.
Spot on. Our son was teaching math at UVA. When a full professor job opened up, he applied. Amazingly they had no problem coming out and telling him he was not considered since he is white and straight. He left the university
Incomprehensible to the European mind! 😂 The Global Diversity Officer gets paid close to what a Uni President gets paid in the UK

This is literally burning money.
Keep up the great work . Make them tell the truth. We are on a course of destruction. Marxism is gaining ground it must be stopped.
Unbelievable 🤬
Destroying the country from within, Liberalism is a mental disorder!

As a parent of a UVA '23 Engineering school graduate who paid full out-of-state tuition for 4 years, my blood is boiling.
Another comment said son made when i shared this story was “and I build airplanes for 1/10th of that salary”. (Aerospace engineer).
I can't even imagine.
Aren’t you double counting here? Davidson is a full professor in the graduate business school and Downs is a professor in the medical school.

Robert Reich doesn't mention this when talking about college being to expensive.

Yeah and they should get reparations too. LOL

So many ways to do reparations . . . so many ways to shoot yourself in the foot.

Boy if that isn’t racism then I obviously don’t understand the meaning. I need some DEI training. Are there any indoctrination camps I can check into
It's like trying to teach fish to fly
Cool now do UConn!
