public sector unions are a joke. I say this, even though my daughter is in a teachers union, but these unions negotiate with boards or agencies that they fund, back and get elected. The taxpayer is not at the table in any real way. They are a joke.

Sadly, this continues to be unsurprising to me.

I discovered the fraudulence of unions as a 17-yr. old on a summer job in a factory supplying cheap clothes to the precursor of K-Mart. Most of the employees were Hispanic low-education immigrants and the union creamed $25/paycheck from them and did nothing to improve conditions.

Every organization with power goes rotten eventually. This is just life. Any kid who's ever gone to school knows that most teachers are mediocrities with a taste for petty torture.

I never belonged to any political party but always, until our most recent 2 national elections, voted for Democrats. My choice in 2016-2020 was "none of the above." Until most people regard themselves as independents and vote for individuals they think are better than the other individuals on a slate, we'll keep careening on the little skateboards to hell. But most people need the warm comfort of tribalism.

I'm sorry, really, to be living in a "You Are There" episode of the fall of the Roman Empire; we had it pretty good here for awhile. Sad to see it go.

You voted Democratic until 2016? Why? They’ve shown their ‘other side’ since Obama. 2008 should have been an awakening to the false ‘hope & change’ banner that was clearly exposed as false in Obama’s book along with his arrogance. Then with Michelle’s snotty attitude of ‘finally for once she was proud of America.’ Downward spiral in warp speed ever since Obama.

I've never regretted a vote as much as I did voting for Obama twice.

But I would not have voted for McCain or for Romney.

I see your point. Both options were bad choices.

I just commented about unions on a Mark Crispin Miller substack article....I still think labour unions have been part of the fraud, too...bought and paid for.....no support or accommodations of any kind and they just repeat the narrative of both the employer/gov't.....this was their time to shine and stand up for employee rights and human rights but they have ALL stayed silent all over the world...why? I think we all know.....I have been in three different unions in the last 26 years and something is not right....

Exactly. They lost their original purpose and for decades have been a political arm of the DNC with little regard for their members.
