I watched both mentioned movies. Miss Representation is about how media objectifies girls and women, it's over 30 minutes long. The Mask You Wear is 1 1/2 hours long, and is about how boys grow up with media influences and how it affects them. I don't think a 12 year old could sit through either of them. They are much too long and almost all talking. Both of them were thought provoking, not at all what I thought they were going to be. The scenes mentioned were shown as proof that boys are subjected to a bombardment of violent and sexual images/movies/video games that can, without proper loving families, lead them to violence. It was really heart breaking. But it's much too long to be used in a school curriculum. Do we have any information/data on which schools have presented these movies in the classroom?

As a parent and educator, I find this horrific. It is okay to teach kids to be respectful to others not like us, however this is WAY to graffic and I would consider this child abuse. Horrible... shame on those who utilize this.
