oh my hell, the city we live in. We tried to recall the mayor, LaToya the Destroyer, and it failed. Nobody wants to step up to her, because of her back room tactics. She travels all over the world, first class, on our dime, taking her boy toy bodyguard with her, even before her husband died last year, and hasn't stopped yet! now that the boy toy body guard has been indicted, she is soon to follow. We have another year of her idiotic rules of government of "for thee, not for me". And nobody has said anything about Kirkpatrick, and I do like the nickname for her of "Granny" ( but that is an insult to Irene Ryan that played "Granny" on Beverly Hillbillies ), that she struck pedestrians in her police cruiser in 2024, as well.
The first press conference was an absolute joke with them parading around so unorganized and saying one thing and another joke of an junior FBI agent saying another. Notice you don't see the young one out there anymore? I think not. Comparing the NOLA presser to the Las Vegas press conference, stark difference and how a totally professional, city official should hold pressers.
This group of city clowns are just that, clowns. They all check the DEI box. Call me sexist, but I really don't care. The new FBI agents that were brought in are so much more professional and I did get a little better feeling about the confidence in them and the concise answers are there.
Where is our local Homeland Security officials? Oh, well, he had a DUI in the agency vehicle in 2023, yet still working. It took a carjacking of our local DA, Jason Williams with his Mother in the car with him, to wake up and realize the criminals are running things here and made him get tougher on upcoming cases, as it should be, after letting so many off on lesser charges or commuted sentences.
Do I still feel safe in New Orleans, specifically on Bourbon & French Quarter, or heading to sporting events and Mardi Gras, which we have every year, along with Sugar Bowl, yes, I do, but I also am not a weekly regular to Bourbon. It's a beautiful place to visit, during the day to see all the architecture of the Spanish and French Rule and the colors brought in by the Caribbean culture. And of course, our food! No where else like it anywhere! The Port of New Orleans has been one of America's original melting pots for over 300 years now, bringing in people, cultures, traditions and the foods, and our origins of music, which brings all of us together. Will I move, nope! It is home! we are truly a resilient people, and we don't cower or back down. The failed levees during Katrina still haunt us, and the city was flooded, but she did not drown all of our ways of life. We just get up, and plan a second line, to celebrate life!
New Orleans depends on tourism as our main source of income. I know this all to well, because that is my business. I have vacation rental properties. Have we suffered from tourism after Covid, you bet we did! "It's the economy, stupid!" are words from one of our home town vocal opinionators. Between the City tax on accommodations being 16.75%, the absurd property tax, which are so over inflated for the city services we get back in return, it is making it harder to live and work here. Because of all these high taxes we had to raise our rental rates, and most folks cannot afford that. Oh, and the City Council has now made it illegal to have a short term rental within the French Quarter neighborhood, so only hotels can rent for anything less than 60 nights. Guess who has tight connections to the City Council and corrupt Mayor, most of the conglomerate hotel franchise owners..... That's why you don't find AirBnB's or Vrbo's in the FQ. And now the permits and licenses for short term owners and operators can be upwards of $1500 a year, IF you are granted a permit, because they only want ONE rental per block face in residential areas ( like where the terrorist rented ), so if you bought property, thinking it was going to be for an heir, and renovated the interiors to bring it up to the 21 century comforts, use the rental income to pay off the mortgage, taxes, supplement your income or pay for higher education for your children, and hopefully pass the property on to them, as investment or a place to live in later, is rapidly loosing its soul.
If you try to sell it, you may very well be upside down because of how the real estate value has dropped here due to the blatant uncontrollable crime and violence, nobody is wanting to live here.
What can be done to keep this wonderfully historic and beloved city? I don't have a solution, but you can sure bet I will scrutinize every candidate that plans on running for any office even more than before. My vote will count.
NEW ORLEANS IS FAMOUS FOR THE HIGH CRIME RATE. IS IS RUN BY CRIMINALS WHO SUPPORT CRIMINAL BEHAVIOR OVER THE SAFETY OF THE CITIZENS. KIRKPATRICK SHOULD BE ARRESTED AND KEPT IN PRISON WHILE ALL OF HER ACTIVITIES HAVE BEEN THOROUGHLY INVESTIGATED. NOTHING WILL CHANGE UNTIL THE CRIMS AT THE TOP ARE REMOVED...PERMANENTLY. NEW GOVERNOR, NEW MAYOR, NEW POLICE HEADS, ETC .... THIS CRIIMINAL CONTROL IS THE NORMAL PRACTICE. ONLY A CLEAN SWEEP WILL MAKE A DENT. ITS JUST COMMON SENSE. DOES ANYONE IN OFFICE IN CORRUPT NEW ORLEANS HAVE COMMON SENSE?
Pittsburgh hired a guy as police chief who was fired from his job as Ft. Lauderdale police chief.
Then, it turns out that the mayor and police chief had an "understanding" that the police chief could continue to referee college football games on weekends.
Now Pittsburgh is a sanctuary city with not enough police officers. There are only 20 officers on duty in the entire city between in the early morning hours. And if you call 911, you will probably be directed to the telephone reporting unit to file a police report. Couple of instances where people have gone to a police station during daylight hours only to find it closed with a note on the door to use a call box.
get real. She has done a great job in an incredibly difficult city. She is the head of a large urban police department. It is understandable that she not know the entire inventory of the city. People could have done better and Jan 1 was a tragedy. Blaming Fitzpatrick is off the mark
Why was I, as a layperson, who has simply lived in some high-profile cities, well aware of what bollards are and when and where and why they’re installed? After all of the terror attacks Western cities have suffered from jihadis driving into crowds, including so recently, why wouldn’t someone with so much experience in large cities, and working for the FBI, not be aware of this basic element of security infrastructure?
She gives off the impression of a mediocrity, who serially hops from city to city collecting money, and who is already half-retired. You’re correct that New Orleans is a very challenging city. So why is someone with such an undistinguished record, who is already retirement age, taking that role when she’s apparently not up to it. It’s not like we’re talking about a Bratton or Kelly who’s been called in to work one last stint heading a police department in need of a turnaround. And her arrogance when questioned about her ignorance re: her city’s security infrastructure was astounding. We are all to get on board, behind her, no challenging questions permitted. People’s lives might’ve been saved and many serious injuries prevented if she had been more aware, informed, active, and competent. It’s not like NYE and a big bowl game in New Orleans weren’t significant public events. Every police chief in every major city with large public events coming should’ve been asking: what do we have at our disposal to help prevent this?
This was not some minor inventory item. She obviously had no clue as to how to prevent vehicle attacks by terrorists or she would have instructed one of her subordinates to purchase and install such barricades and then would have discovered that the city already had them. The buck stops at the top , stop making excuses for obvious incompetence if not dereliction of duty.
how many people were murdered? how many people were injured? this is what happens when dei "didnt earn it" equity hires happen - people get murdered ,and u cover for them. incompentence rules
FIRE HER OUT OF ONE OF THOSE CIVIL WAR CANNONS THAT ARE JUST PERFECT FOR A TIME SUCH AS THIS. ASK FOR TRUMP TO HELP, HE KNOWS HOW TO HANDLE CRIMINALS WHO NEED TO BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY AND PERMANENTLY.
She sure likes money.

Granny should retire.
What’s the story on the Oakland lawsuit? She supposedly spoke out against corruption but was there an investigation of corruption at all?
Democrat women are the worst!
Send her to DC.
These 4 star, DEI, non-law enforcement chicktards are all the rage.
Just look around the country at all the carnage their incompetence accommodates
Keep an eye on Cerelyn Davis

If she worked with the FBI, she would have known about physical barriers that could be used to prevent terrorist attacks.
She is a stupid woman.

I AM IN TOTSL AGREEMENT. THIS BEHAVIOR IS PERMITTED AND EVEN VOTED IN. IS THE EDUCATION OF YOUR CITIZENS MAKING YOUR HOME A CITY OF MORONS?
