He needs to be prosecuted if there is any honesty and integrity left in the judicial system in this country.

The mass death rate here and worldwide is TOO GREAT to let slide.

Does it seem to you that by lying Fauci did prosper? When will he be held accountable?

No one works as a government employee to get rich. In fact many do so knowing they could earn twice as much in the private sector. Most choose government work because they have a calling to give to their communities and country. My guess is those who throw rocks at Dr. Fauci have never researched the decades of education and experience he brought to his position. During a time of volatility caused by a new virus, he reacted and adjusted his position as additional information became available. The commenters here seem to have stuck to their rhetoric and never updated it, regardless of new facts becoming available. Enjoy your tiny world.

It might have helped had the shots actually worked to limit transmission. Hard to know their effectiveness.

How about “exposing” the toll the Felon-in Chief has cost the taxpayer to-date re his almost weekly golf jaunts; it’s one government expense that Elon Musk and DOGE have not addressed yet, nor likely will. What about all the (made in China) merc he hawks on the taxpayer’s dime while at work. Let's not forget the rest of the family who are cashing in while Daddy’s in office. Oh, and what about the money flowing into his coffers from people buying some face-to-face time….

Neither Trump nor Musk take a salary. The course that he plays on almost every weekend is in his backyard.

On your taxpayer dime. Trump and his entourage fly down from D. C. to his “backyard” in Mar-a-Largo on Air Force One while the military brings down the vehicles for his motorcade on C-17 transports. Because Mar-a-Lago, in Palm Beach, straddles the width of the barrier island, police boats with machine guns mounted on the bows patrol the Intracoastal while a Coast Guard vessel is stationed off the beach in the Atlantic. Additional costs include law enforcement and explosive-sniffing dogs…According to a 2019 Government Accountability Office report examining the first four trips Trump took to Mar-a-Lago during his first administration, EACH ONE COSTS $3,383,250 — a sum based on 2017 dollars that is likely higher now. He has traveled to one of his golf resorts on nine of the ten weekends since taking office in January. Do the math...

Not sure we begrudge security for our leader given already two attempts on his life. At least he makes himself available to the public often unlike the previous administration.

Honestly, I think the salary paltry given the man’s position and work alleged to have been done. The speaker’s fees, he earned. He is a public figure who earned a platform. If this guy and his wife had forsaken public service they’d earned a hell a lot more.

No, family, husbands, wives, kids, in-laws, siblings, cousins, childhood buddies, college buddies should not be working just because of relationship, but all of our queasiness about nepotism was tossed out the window.

This, given where we are right now, a nothing. People are concerned about the price of eggs, bread, gas, I guess?

Despicable that these two taxpayer-paid government servants are so wealthy. Fauci's public statements and actions were very destructive to U.S. society. Disgusting that Biden gave him a "pre-emptive" pardon. I don't see how pre-emptive pardons are even legal.

Nothing says CONFLICT OF INTEREST quiet like... having your spouse employed as head ethicist in the government organization where you are running a multi-decade influence/government grant peddling scheme. Both of these

‘criminals” should end up in prison. AutoPen “pardon” or no Autopen “pardon”.

This feels like a political witch-hunt to drive engagement. Faucis security detail has ended and much of what you cover here is private payments…. so what is your point? Or has the mission now expanded to all ways public servants make money? If that’s the case then let’s see some coverage of congressional stock trading and the Trump coins. Otherwise you should stick to wasteful public spending .

@jamesbryson53 and @redinCA you both missed my point. I don't read/support Open the Books for political opinion and partisan smear pieces on officials. I didn't express an opinion about Fauci. I'm interested in how Open the Books can end wasteful *public* spending. If you read the article, it talks about how he is 'getting rich' on *private* money, and as long as he's doing that legally while a private citizen I don't see how it is related to Open the Books' mission and I doubt if Andrew was still with us he would have published this piece. OTB can do better.
