Another piece of the puzzle. Lobbying disclosure reporting is another database source that can be used to reconcile these types of influences at work. I recently noticed a story about the record spending in lobbying in Colorado pulled from lobbyist disclosure reporting. Every state has similar reporting requirements and databases to search, as does the federal government.

A record amount was spent lobbying Colorado’s legislature and state government last year

Colorado Sun, August 10, 2023

https://coloradosun.com/2023/08/10/colorado-lobbying-2023-record/

The story noted that:

"Sage Therapeutics, a biotech company lobbying on mental health treatments, was No. 2 on list after paying more than $361,000 to four lobbyists to monitor nine bills."

And when I go to the Secretary of State lobbyist search page:

https://www.sos.state.co.us/lobby/SearchPrincipal.do

And enter "sage therapeutics" I'm able to see all of their legislative activities and interests their lobbyists declared:

HB23-1153 Pathways To Behavioral Health Care Supporting

HB23-1130 Drug Coverage For Serious Mental Illness Supporting

OTHER Potential bill concepts regarding modernizing

mental health treatments. Supporting

And many "Monitoring" bills.

Who is Sage Therapeutics?:

https://www.sagerx.com/home

Sage Therapeutics in the news, even partnering with Biogen:

https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20230501005482/en/Sage-Therapeutics-Announces-First-Quarter-2023-Financial-Results-and-Highlights-Pipeline-and-Business-Progress

https://finance.yahoo.com/news/sage-therapeutics-announces-second-quarter-103000765.html

By going to the state's lobbying search portal I learned who their lobbyists were. I recognize several of the names as being very powerfully connected ones, like Ted Trimpa who's at the nerve center of progressive politics and monied interests in Colorado. And a lobbying team working for Sage Therapeutics is DCI Group out of Washington, DC, with strong establishment GOP ties:

https://www.dcigroup.com/our-work/

And when I viewed DCI's "Case Studies" I learned that one of their clients had the lobby for "Removing Barriers for Innovative Treatments." Specifically "medication to treat opioid use disorder."

This is just one medium-sized state. Times fifty. Plus federal. It's a lot of work to put this type of information together. Thank you for what you do at OpenTheBooks. When your research work product is combined with research work product like the Colorado example I demonstrated, across all of the companies, government agencies, regulators, politicians, etc, the conflicts of interests and moral hazards can be connected into a comprehensive database to better inform an engaged populace.

Which is where the biggest challenge is: an engaged populace. We take in all of this information, see it clearly for what it is, then we need to push it down in bite-sized pieces so that it can be chewed on by the populace. Which ends up coming down to, "yeah, we know, they're all corrupt, but what can I do about it, I've got a family to take care of and life to live." The biggest challenge of all.

Notwithstanding the massive corruption, exactly who thought that it is a good idea to have guys like Fauci and Collins, who only very briefly practiced clinical medicine (in their residencies), to head such important institutions?

In theory, theory and practice are the same, but in practice, they're not.

What an unbelievable scam.

The taxpayers are bled dry for these evil psychopaths to run the federal government, and they spend the money enriching private industry, who then kicks them back millions to enrich them.

And they use it to wage war on humanity.

You can guarantee every "essential" industry is exactly the same.

Is it possible to determine exactly how much in royalties went directly to Fauci? Both before 2020 and after 2019, as separate numbers. I don't see that in the article.

I applaud these efforts to shine light on the grift. This is the way of DC and why it is corrupted top to bottom. Money flows out and in turn part of the money flows back into the pocket of a politician or bureaucrat or family member of same. Worse a very large amount of the money flowing out is funded via debt that the American citizen to this day owes. There may be a few honest people left in DC but they are few and far between.

The reason the Founding Fathers wrote a Constitution and Bill of Rights to limit government powers are on perfect display, here. We the People have been bribed with promises of the government using our tax money to pay our social security, Medicare, public school, etc., to keep the people distracted & happy. We pay the taxes, we take our little trinkets, and continue on our way, eyes wide shut. This corruption is the result of Americans being asleep at the wheel (I am one of those Americans). While most of us are aware of scams like food stamps, welfare and public housing being used to keep people just happy enough to never strive for better, almost every one of us engage in using some form of government welfare. Many of us look at people who utilize these systems and realize that the systems are being used to keep people down. You listen to people screaming about systemic racism, but we all know many of the people decrying this walked into these prisons of poverty, for peace and safety. Willingly believing a lie of "a little help to get you on your feet", but being made just comfortable enough to stay there because it's easier than working really hard and sacrificing. But we are all partaking in these welfare systems, whether that be public education, school vouchers, Medicaid or other government programs. We are all guilty of being kept just happy enough to not notice the absolute corruption being woven into policies and the creation of endless bloated bureaucratic agencies. The only answer is to strip this system down to its originally intended framework and start over. I doubt any American has the stomach for that. I suspect we will be enslaved by a tyrannical government, that we allowed to take over the most beautiful country ever created. This despicable scandal is just one cog in a huge wheel. I certainly hope stories like this will enrage people enough to finally do something. But as I look at people staring at their phones, as the world passes by them, I don't have a lot of hope.
