the office of the president is not an agency under FOIA and therefore is not subject to it. the vice president's records will be available 5 years after term ends through the presidential records act.

Makes me puke.

Biden absolutely went crazy - from these grifters to the SNAP payments going from 17 to 41 million.

USAID was a hint, not an outlier.

We are now squandering a fortune threatening Venezuela as a diversion from Trump's guilt in sexual predation.

Don't be an ass, George. Seek help. In fact, go see Maduro. I'm sure he would appreciate your input.

Let's really open books by reinstating the auditors.

This is funny. Billionaires are making sure we do not succeed or improve financially, taking everything they can steal or sell for Trumpcoins.

We are Trump's Suckers!!

No one will ever know what the Climate Czar, John Kerry, pulled in. Excellent reporting here and of course, shocking. Makes me think the Biden admin was bribing employees to maintain their allegiance and to keep their mouths shut (whistleblower deterrent). Also, they were insulated from the 9% inflation inflicted on the rest of us.

Perhaps, Open The Books will have better luck with getting all the 2025 numbers and working with the administration to reduce pay and people.

I cannot believe how many people are in federal government jobs and that doesn’t even account for the retirees we pay for. There are over 20 million people being paid by us via the federal government.

And those postage stamps don’t support the USPS. They should be called USPS “pension stamps” because that’s what they’re paying for. I’m just glad I stocked up on those ‘forever’ stamps before all those increases. 🙄

Through the 1980s and possibly beyond, Federal government jobs generally paid much less than the private sector, and the arguments in favor of government jobs were - more job security, more predictable hours, and better benefits including retirement. WTH happened??? And this doesn't include the many contracts that DOGE continues to tackle!

The DC area is expensive. One solution is to move work elsewhere but that seem impossible.

SandyKMN's avatar

Sounds like something DOGE needs to investigate.

Now that OTB has revealed this corrupt system, how do we fix it?

We can’t even get spending fixed at the state level where tax funded employees are closer to we the unwashed. So how can we expect spending to change at the federal level without VOTERS getting rid of wasteful spenders and those unwilling to significantly reduce size and scope of government?

Also, how can laws be changed so it’s easier to fire or reduce salaries of unnecessary or overpaid government workers?

During our recent shut down, how many federal government services did you miss? Air Traffic Control, sure. Some countries, including UK, have private ATC. Other agencies, cut staff, let the states handle (example: SNAP), or privatize.

Our wonderful government is robbing us blind. It's not fair to those many government employees who do important work for us who aren't ripping us off.

When a GS-15 employee at Step 5 living in the DC area can pull a bigger salary ($195,000) than a Member of Congress ($174,000), something is askew.

Reginald Thibodeau's avatar

When a member of Congress with no resume beyond "bartender" gets paid $174,000, something is definitely askew.
