While the government was shut down in October, members of Congress were acting like the fate of American health care, defense and more hung in the balance.
Every item should be voted on separately. It’s the bundling that allows this. Just like a household budget, we don’t have money for movies and steak dinners, because we’ve got to pay the rent first, car payment next, etc. It’s not one budget that the teenagers get to add their parties to the budget before the rent gets paid. Let the politicians vote on each item, then let the record show how each politician voted. Who voted to send aid to other countries, and on foreign wars, before paying down the debt and taking care of our own?
The spending never slows nor stops. When the people can vote themselves the treasury they will do it is in spite of the deficit. Most of Congress should be voted out but an ill informed public just blindly votes themselves back. Might help a few locals at the expense of our nation.
We now see some of the folks in congress have twisted sexual issues.
It's also time we question the one(s) signed on to take children into their dens of iniquity (gay theater) to teach. What will they really learn? Are all parents in agreement w their children being part of such a thing?
The Elephant Statue is a metaphor for a pending bankruptcy due to the deficit--it's the "elephant in the room" no one in Congress will acknowledge, least of all Booker. Thanks for reading through these bills so we don't have to.
I would love to see the Trump Administration impound the money and make these politicians sue them very publicly. Trump might lose, but at least the media would be forced to cover this corruption and grift.
I believe all of these should be crowd-sourced (like Go-Fund Me). Each member who proposes "socializing" these should first look to their campaign funds. Has anyone done an audit on any of these which have been funded before? Where does the money trail lead? Where is the Republican list?
I believe Treasury Secretary Bessent should conduct a press conference to discuss every one of these, and call out the Congressional members to justify each. Ask them how many SNAP recipients could this earmark feed in their State. Can President Trump do a line item veto yet? If not, invite each of them to a White House presser to explain why "We The People" should fund these.
These earmarks are some of the dumbest things I’ve read. These politicians are just funneling money to their donors with no regard to actually helping, except padding pockets. If they were asked to personally donate to these stupid items, I doubt they would give a dollar.
Yes, equine therapy IS great. But government — I.e. taxpayers— should not be funding any project OTB mentioned in this article. ALL earmarks should be rejected and banned regardless of their good intentions.
It’s such a disappointment to see our representatives spending our hard earned taxpayer dollars on this projects that have nothing to do with governance. In my opinion these projects should be denied and let charities and other donors contribute if they feel the community needs these projects.
I’m outraged that these earmarks were reintroduced in 2022.
Please “Stop the spending”!
Our young citizens cannot function in our country with this massive debt from irresponsible spending.
I’m truly disgusted by the behavior of our representatives.

Just curious....
Did any Republicans put in any earmarks?

Forget calling us tax payers. From now on just call us what they think we really are Suckers
Nancy...🎯
Charitable social contributions should come from private and religious donors, not the federal treasury.
Equine therapy is actually really great.

What if we combined it with an early gay utopia?????

It' would be nice to know who profited off the outrageous amount spent on special treatment, where did our tax dollars go should be a big question?
